Figures & methodology
This page explains what the figures on this website mean, where they came from and what has not yet been independently validated.
Last reviewed: 2 August 2026
Evidence status
All quantitative figures are preliminary planning assumptions from the Asian Medical City strategic concept report. They support discussion and future feasibility work. They are not forecasts, commitments, approved project parameters, public authority statistics or evidence that the project will be delivered at the stated scale.
The concept has not yet completed independent demand validation, demographic review, site confirmation, technical masterplanning, regulatory assessment, financing validation or government approval.
Figures currently displayed
| Figure | Meaning | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 5,000 beds | A proposed full-development capacity distributed across a future multi-institute campus. | Preliminary planning assumption, subject to demand, licensing, clinical planning and financial feasibility. |
| 10 million m² | A preliminary total site concept equal to 1,000 hectares. The area allocation shown on the website sums to this total. | Preliminary spatial assumption. No site is represented as selected, acquired or approved. |
| 1,000,000+ patients annually | An aspirational annual patient figure. The method for distinguishing unique patients from repeat visits has not yet been defined. It does not include companions or general visitors. | The counting method and demand assumptions still require independent validation through clinical-service modelling, regulation, capacity planning and phased feasibility work. |
| 2026 to 2040 roadmap | An illustrative sequence for assessment, an initial campus, additional facilities and the proposed full scope. | Not an approved construction or delivery schedule. |
Preliminary site allocation
The 10 million m² concept is currently divided into 2.4 million m² for the Central Avenue & Green Belt, 2 million m² for the Central Medical Core, 1.3 million m² for the Hotel & Visitor District, 1.1 million m² for Supportive Services, 900,000 m² for the Medical University & Education District, 900,000 m² for the Staff Residential District, 700,000 m² for the Research, Biotechnology & Innovation District, and 700,000 m² for the International Convention & Commercial District.
These categories are conceptual. Boundaries, uses and proportions may change through feasibility, environmental review, planning and engagement with the relevant authorities.
How to read the language
Proposed, potential and indicative describe items that remain subject to study. At full development describes a possible completed project, not current operations. References to the Jeddah-Makkah corridor describe the proposal’s geographic focus and do not represent a confirmed site or public authority endorsement.
Future validation
Before any figure is used as an investment, clinical, planning or public-policy basis, it should be tested through an independent feasibility study, demographic and demand analysis, clinical service planning, transport and utilities assessment, environmental review, financial modelling, and consultation with the competent Saudi authorities.
Material corrections to the concept website should be dated on this page. Public sources will be linked when external studies or official datasets are formally adopted.
